See What You Can Learn From One Another?
The Six Ways That TAG Hurts Your Family
We call TAG a game but its impact upon your family is no game. There are six destructive consequences of playing TAG – the game where everyone is afraid of being IT.
01 Isolation - everybody in the family feels alone and misunderstood.
02 Distance – instead of choosing to be close or connected, fearful people choose to create distance, by being gone, being quiet, being “nice”, or being angry.
03 Negativity - family members are critical and focus on what is wrong, instead of lifting one another up (I Thess 5:11) and focusing on what is right.
04 Lack of resolution - everyone protects themselves, instead of listening to others. Since everyone feels unheard, they keep repeating themselves. The same old problems keep getting recycled and nothing gets resolved.
05 Lack of vision - in TAG-playing families, no one wants to embrace their vision, for fear of being criticized or ridiculed.
06 Fear - Instead of being motivated by the love that casts out fear (I John 4:18), TAG-playing families are driven by fear - fear of being wrong, making a mistake, being criticized, looking foolish, or seeming selfish.
Everytime anybody in the family plays TAG, at least one of these six consequences will show up.And everybody in the family will be affected, every time.
That’s how TAG hurts your family. Do you want to learn how to Get Started making changes in your lives?
When Your Family Stops Playing TAG
We were literally created by God to love Him and to love one another (Matthew 22:34-40). So, the instant we quit doing the things that interfere with that love, it begins to flow, naturally. That’s when the miracles start.
When family members feel loved, instead of judged, they will:
- Naturally want to be on your team; you will see cooperation and obedience, instead of isolation and resistance.
- Talk more honestly with you, instead of keeping you at a distance.
- Praise and joke with you and with each other.
- End their bickering and move toward resolution more quickly and easily.
- Start talking with you about their hopes and dreams.
- Be noticeably more loving and affectionate.
As soon as your family learns how to quit playing TAG, love will begin to blossom. The steadfast love that IS our God (I John 4:8) will reappear, stronger than ever.
That’s the good news! Are you ready to join us at one of our events?
