Learning About Ourselves
How TAG Hurts Us
If we are going to make a difference in the lives of others, we can not be one of those who “have eyes but do not see” (Mt 13:10-15). We can not be blind to the destructive effects of TAG in our own life; Jesus said, “the blind can not lead the blind” (Luke 6:39).
If we are going to minister to others, we first must allow God’s truth to heal us, so that we might proclaim, “one thing I know; though I was blind, now I see” (John 9:25).
At the A.R.T. Center, our eyes have indeed been opened. We see a deadly game that separates us from God and others; a game that causes all forms of wrong relationship.
For Christians, the game is a particularly serious problem because to live in wrong relationship is to live an ungodly life. God asks that we not even come before His altar, if there is even one person with whom we are in wrong relationship (Mt 5:21-24).
So, we can’t minister to others, can’t live a truly Christian life, and can’t rightly worship God, as long as we continue to play TAG!
Truly, these are SERIOUS consequences. That’s why it’s imperative that we learn to recognize and then break out of the game.
What Happens When We Stop Playing TAG
When we play TAG, we create distance in all of our relationships. Loneliness, anxiety, anger, and repeated arguments are examples of TAG-related symptoms that we exhibit, once we begin to distance ourselves from others.
As soon as we stop playing TAG, these symptoms disappear and we have a renewed opportunity to live as God intended. Fearful loneliness is replaced with loving community, anxiety with intimacy, anger with peace, and arguing with understanding.
These are God’s ultimate miracles. And those miracles start, the instant we choose the closeness of right relationship, instead of the distance of TAG.
